Black Friday's been a tradition for a long time, but lately it's become a sport.
"People are like, 'Why come, make a line, you're not saving that much,' but we actually are," Miriam Santamaria, a Black Friday shopper, said.
Black Friday fever has taken hold earlier than ever from Florida to California. Some major retailers - such as Walmart, Toys-R-Us, Target and Sears - will kick off their Doorbuster Deals before Thanksgiving leftovers get a chance to cool down. Online retailers are planning their own Black Friday deals - hoping Americans will prefer to point and click their way to a bargain. Some companies will do a little of both.
In all, an estimated 147 million Americans will take advantage of Black Friday weekend sales - 4 percent more than last year.
While some say the focus on Christmas shopping takes away from Thanksgiving's true meaning, hardcore shoppers say there is no better way to celebrate.
