10 things entrepreneurs can learn from Donald Trump's victory

DENVER BUSINESS JOURNAL - I teach entrepreneurship and family business at Saint Joseph’s University's Ervin K. Haub School of Business. During the semester, I had used the election as a way of talking about selecting executives, communication, presenting ideas, ethics, media interaction and energizing people.

I have slightly fewer than 40 freshman students who are first-year voters in my class. They mostly come from white, middle-class backgrounds.

I didn’t disclose until after the election that I had voted for Hillary Clinton so students wouldn’t be swayed.

I spent one class having the students pretend they were the board of directors of a business that was successful, but not to the level investors were happy with. We developed criteria for the type of candidate we were looking for and then analyzed the strengths and weaknesses of each candidate.
