DENVER BUSINESS JOURNAL - The newest technology may drive sales and trends and fill up conferences. But two of Denver’s leading museums are reaching in the opposite direction, toward the past, to bring in new visitors during what is traditionally a slower season for travel and tourism.
Denver Art Museum on Oct. 2 opened “Glory of Venice: Masterworks of the Renaissance,” showing off some of the must tucked-away and influential pieces of art from one of the most important times of the past millennium.
And Denver Museum of Nature & Science on Friday debuted “Mummies: New Secrets from the Tombs,” taking some of the greatest archaeological and anthropological finds of the early 20th century and using new technology to update visitors’ knowledge of the subjects.
Such old-fashioned subjects might seem to run counter to what today’s younger Denverites — as well as residents of surrounding cities and states, who will consider trips to this area especially during the upcoming holiday season — may be looking to put on their agenda.
