Amazon tech operation opens in Colorado; hiring under way

DENVER BUSINESS JOURNAL - Amazon is hiring workers for its Amazon Web Services division locally, and the online giant has opened a tech office in Broomfield.

The Seattle-based company (Nasdaq: AMZN), which hasn't had a tech presence here, joins a growing list of some of tech’s biggest names — Google, Oracle, Twitter — with a presence in the area. Just how big the technology arm of Jeff Bezos’ business aims to be here isn’t known.

The company posted a job description on LinkedIn over the summer for an office manager to work in Broomfield, where it has leased some space. Three software development engineering positions are also posted for the Broomfield location on the company's website.

The company also has set Sept. 15 for a recruiting event planned at Denver’s Grand Hyatt hotel. An invitation sent out via social media channels said:

”This is your chance to learn more about our AWS cloud computing teams in the Denver area and across the country," the invitation says. Recruiters and hiring managers will be on hand.
