DENVER BUSINESS JOURNAL - Bass Pro Shops is lowering the price it will pay to buy rival outdoor sports retailer Cabela's Inc. — both of which have Colorado stores — as part of an amended merger agreement.
Springfield, Missouri-based BPS Direct, which does business as Bass Pro Shops, will now acquire Sidney, Nebraska-based Cabela's (NYSE: CAB) for $61.50 per share in cash, or about $5 billion. In the original deal announced in October, Bass Pro Shops agreed to pay $65.60 per share, or about $5.5 billion, for Cabela's.
In Colorado, Cabela's has stores in Lone Tree, Thornton and Grand Junction. Bass Pro Shops has locations in northeast Denver and Colorado Springs.
