Colorado Mills president describes hail damage, rebuilding and re-opening plans at mall

DENVER BUSINESS JOURNAL - Even a treacherous hail storm can't keep the mall down.

Colorado Mills mall in Lakewood is planning to re-open on Nov. 21 and its CEO says the mall will look different inside with a fresh, contemporary look. And while work will continue in some areas of the mall, nearly all the tenants are returning and the mall already is attracting new tenants.

The mall has inked a deal with a new high-profile tenant Denver chef and restaurant owner Troy Guard, who will open a Los Chingones Mexican restaurant there in 2018.

When hail blasted through the roof of the Colorado Mills mall on May 8, it was followed by more bad luck, said Gregg Goodman, president of The Mills, which is part of Simon Property Group Inc. (NYSE:SPG) — an S&P 100 company with a market cap of $60 billion and the country’s largest mall owner.
