Colorado Mills remains closed from storm damage

Colorado Mills Mall will stay closed this week so businesses can continue to clean up another week after severe storms a week ago today.

LAKEWOOD - A full week after the spring hail storms hit the front range, the Colorado Mills Mall remains closed due to damage.

Tarps are still covering the damage caused by the May 8 storm that pummeled the mall with golf ball-sized hail causing shattered skylights and extensive water damage.

Managers hoped to be able to open the mall on Monday, but their web page now states that it will remain closed and no new open date has been given.

Their Facebook page states “Our team is working hard to assess the scope of needed repairs, and we will share an anticipated reopening date once available. Our priority is to open our doors as quickly as possible while ensuring a safe and enjoyable shopping experience.”

Shop owners and employees will be allowed back in this week to begin clean up.
