Colorado ski area plans to reopen this season under new owners

DENVER BUSINESS JOURNAL - After running into financial woes, Echo Mountain, a small ski area west of Evergreen, has been sold and its new owners are making plans to re-open the resort in mid-December.

The ski area’s operators say they intend to be open six days a week, with night skiing offered.

The mid-December opening is “pending completion of maintenance and improvement projects,” a Monday announcement said.

A company led by Peter Burwell, a Minnesota businessman and University of Denver grad, recently closed on the sale, plans for which were first reported in August.
