DENVER - Despite continued struggles by its managed-care division, DaVita Inc. (NYSE: DVA) has made a major investment to grow that division, announcing Tuesday that it’s acquired one of the largest independent medical groups in the United States.
The Denver-based kidney-care provider has purchased Northwest Physicians Network, a Tacoma, Washington-based independent physician association (IPA) that includes more than 1,000 primary- and specialty-care physicians.
DaVita did not disclose the purchase price.
That group joins The Everett Clinic, an operator of 20 care sites north of Seattle that DaVita purchased in 2015, as part of DaVita Medical Group, which operates physician networks in six states.
