Denver area oil and gas firm to test IPO waters

DENVER BUSINESS JOURNAL - Vantage Energy Inc. has filed documents to raise up to $100 million via an initial public offering, the second IPO involving the Colorado oil and gas industry that’s been announced in the last week.

Vantage, based in Arapahoe County near Centennial, was formed in 2006. It is led by Chairman and CEO Roger Biemans, an industry veteran who was part of a small team that started Encana Corp.’s Denver office in the early 2000s.

Tom Tyree Jr., the company’s president and CFO, left his job as CFO of Bill Barrett Corp. in November 2006 to join Vantage Energy.

The two founded the company, which primarily produces natural gas, with investments from affiliates of Quantum Energy Partners, Riverstone Holdings LLC and Lime Rock Partners.
