Downtown Denver's Tami Door to transit-hungry Nashville: Don't try too hard to copy us

DENVER BUSINESS JOURNAL - Throughout the country, Denver has been touted as the go-to example of how to do transit correctly, which is why Nashville leaders repeatedly point to the city as an inspiration for Middle Tennessee's efforts to boost transit infrastructure.

But the future of Nashville's transit doesn't lie in Denver, and city officials should stop looking so closely at the Colorado capital and start looking more closely at home.

Or so says Downtown Denver Partnership CEO Tami Door.

"It wouldn’t be a fair comparison to look at what we did to what you might do," Door said in a recent phone conversation. "It’s not apples to apples."
