Home resale price gains cool in metro Denver

DENVER BUSINESS JOURNAL - Gains in home-resale prices across metro Denver eased in August from the torrid pace of previous months, but the area still outpaced most of the nation for year-to-year price increases.

That's according to the latest S&P/Case-Shiller Home Prices Indices report, issued Tuesday.

Average prices for home resales in a 10-county region surrounding Denver were up 8.8 percent in August from a year earlier, following annual gains of 9.4 percent in July, 9.3 percent in June, and 9.5 percent in both May and April, according to the closely followed Case-Shiller monthly real estate report series.

Still, Denver's price increases far outpaced the 5.1 percent average year-over-year gain for 20 big cities tracked by the Case-Shiller report and the 5.3 percent national increase.
