DENVER BUSINESS JOURNAL - Hospitality Real Estate Counselors (HREC) on Thursday announced its second merger in the past three weeks, bringing a Boston-based hotel brokerage practice into the company’s ever-growing national network.
Headquartered in Greenwood Village, HREC is the country’s largest lodging and gaming real estate advisory firm, operating 15 offices across the country. That now includes the Boston office of the former O’Connell Hospitality Group, an advisory firm specializing in hotel and resort transactions that has become a significant player in the New England market.
“All of HREC’s national clients will directly benefit from the addition of a premier, institutional owner quality office in Boston, close on the ground and living the pulse of the New England hotel scene 24/7,” HREC CEO and founder Mike Cahill said.
The news follows HREC’s announcement on Aug. 23 that it had merged with Kansas City-based Warmbrodt Hotel Investments. While that expanded HREC into a new city in the Midwest, the O’Connell deal plants its office in a new location in the Northeast.
