Different generations make buying decisions differently. If you are 70 to 90 years old, you grew up in the era when brand names inspired loyalty. Then 50- to 70-year-od baby boomers sought referrals by asking friends for advice.
Enter the Internet and social media. Millennials aged 30 to 50 (let's include Gen X and Gen Y) prefer online reviews aggregating a variety of viewpoints. It’s been said they are more interested in the number of people reviewing an establishment than the overall score.
I’m addicted to Trip Advisor. With 311 reviews and 131 helpful votes, I buy into the idea of helping others learn through my own experiences while providing the businesses themselves with feedback.
