New business filings are still on the upswing in Colorado

DENVER BUSINESS JOURNAL - New business filings in Colorado accelerated in the first quarter of 2017 — up 9.3 percent year-over-year and up 31 percent over the last quarter, according to a report released by Colorado Secretary of State Wayne Williams.

That news follows the fourth quarter of 2016, when Williams called the rate of new business filings "unrelenting" in Colorado, which were up 6.3 percent over the same period in 2015.

"The robust growth in business filings bodes well for future job growth in the state," Williams said today in issuing the Quarterly Business & Economics Indicators report, researched and analyzed by the University of Colorado Boulder's Leeds School of Business.

The first quarter business filings mark the fifth consecutive quarter of increases and indicates that the state's economy will continue to grow through the year.
