DENVER - Shake off that Black Friday shopping fatigue, Colorado's community businesses are hoping you'll come out today.
Small Business Saturday is a shopping tradition dedicated to supporting small businesses and celebrating communities across the country.
About 7,000 communities nationwide are expected to participate in the American Express-sponsored holiday, which started in 2010.
According to the City and County of Denver, Small businesses make up 80 percent of all businesses in the city, and employ nearly half of Denver's workforce.
Last year, some 112 million customers reported shopping at independently owned businesses, according to AMEX.
Denver Mayor Michael Hancock and Aurora Mayor Steve Hogan are participating.
They’re expected to join the Chamber of Commerce along with other officials to tour small businesses at the Stanley Marketplace.
