Starz lays off employees as part of streamlining

DENVER BUSINESS JOURNAL - Starz has laid off about 50 employees, shrinking the premium TV channel operator's marketing and creative services department as part of a previously-announced streamlining of its branding.

The job cuts, announced internally Thursday, mostly involve positions at its Douglas County headquarters.

“Due to significant changes and reduced needs precipitated from a rebrand the company underwent in April 2016, Starz notified 50 employees in the marketing and creative services teams that their jobs have been restructured and eliminated,” Starz said in a written statement. “While a difficult decision, the company is doing this with the utmost respect for each and every person.”

The cuts are not related to Starz’ looming acquisition by Lions Gate Entertainment, the movie and TV series production studio.
