KUSA - Two weeks after a hail storm left Colorado Mills mall badly damaged, the Colorado Department of Labor says it's having a hard time getting in touch with building management.
The state wants to help displaced workers get new jobs, and says some Colorado Mills employees could even qualify for unemployment. However, the agency is having trouble getting in touch with most of these 200-plus workers.
Now, the department is asking people who worked at Colorado Mills to contact the Jefferson County Workforce Center. The Department of Labor says it has resources to help the hundreds who are now without a job.
The agency plans to announce a hiring event for those employees within the next couple of days, and the city of Lakewood plans to have its own job fair.
The Lakewood mall announced last week it would reopen by the holidays, which is several months away.
The mall opened in 2002 and has 210 stores, 30 of which are locally owned.
