'Upscale' Indian restaurant to take place of tapas bar in Cherry Creek

DENVER BUSINESS JOURNAL - The operator of a Littleton Indian restaurant and a Indian chef say they're opening a new restaurant in Cherry Creek in the spot of a former tapas bar.

Ganesh Adhikari, who operates Zaika Indian Cuisine in Littleton, and chef Maha-Dev, say they're going to open Mehak India's Aroma restaurant at 250 Steele St. in the spot formerly occupied by Ondo's Spanish Tapas Bar, which closed in late December of 2013.

The pair say they're trying to create more of an upscale atmosphere than the "buffet set up" Indian restaurants in Denver and they "want to offer area ethnic food enthusiasts a more authentic, sit-down experience," according to a statement.

The new Indian restaurant will be competing against other Cherry Creek Indian restaurants, such as fast-casual Bombay Clay Oven, which opened in 1993 in the middle of Cherry Creek North, and which is expanding, according to the Denver Business Journal in June.
