Xcel Energy bills to go up for natural gas

DENVER BUSINESS JOURNAL - Xcel Energy Inc. has asked state regulators to approve adjustments to the price of electricity and natural gas for the third quarter.

The proposal, if approved by the Colorado Public Utilities Commission, would take effect July 1 and remain in effect through the end of September. It's routine for Xcel to ask state regulators to review and approve adjustments to electricity and natural gas prices for the upcoming quarter.

The proposal would lower electricity prices for the third quarter, compared to the second quarter of 2014, according to Xcel.

Natural gas prices are expected to be higher in the third quarter compared to the same quarter in 2013, however natural gas use — and bills for that use — are at the lowest points during the summertime third quarter, Xcel said.
