DENVER - Otter Products LLC, the Colorado company that makes mobile-phone cases under the OtterBox brand, is exploring a possible sale, the Reuters news agency reports.
Reuters — which cited unnamed "people familiar with the matter" in its report — said the potential deal values Fort Collins-based Otter Products at more than $2.5 billion, including debt.
Privately held Otter, with 2013 sales of about $925 million, is controlled by the family of Curt Richardson, who founded the company in 1998.
Most of its products are for Apple Inc.'s iPhone, although it also makes cases for devices made by LG Corp. and BlackBerryLtd.
