Empire Kosher recalls 5 tons of raw chicken

KUSA - Empire Kosher Poultry is recalling 10,839 pounds of raw chicken that may be contaminated with metal. 

The raw chicken products were distributed to retailers nationwide, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service announced Thursday

Five chicken breast products are under the recall:

- Empire Kosher Natural Chicken Breasts (4 to 5.25 lb. tray) code 46375, sell-by date 11/14/17

- Empire Kosher Natural Chicken Breasts (1 to 1.25 lb. tray) code 7488, sell-by date 11/16/17

- Empire Kosher Natural Chicken Breasts (2.5 lb. tray) code 7598, sell-by date 11/16/17

- Empire Kosher Natural Chicken Breasts (1 to 1.25 lb. tray) code 92615, sell-by date 11/17/17

- Empire Kosher Natural Chicken Breasts (1 to 1.25 lb. tray) code 7888, sell-by date 11/16/17

The products contain the establishment number "P-1015" inside the USDA mark of inspection.

Empire Kosher says an employee observed metal foreign material in a chicken breast on November 2. There have been no reports of any injuries or reactions due to consumption of the products. 

Consumers who have purchased one of the recalled items is urged not to eat it and return it for a refund at the place of purchase.
