WASHINGTON - The IRS is offering money to anyone willing to turn in tax cheaters.
The internal revenue service is offering a cut on the proceeds, and the more the IRS gets from that lawbreaker, the more you pocket.
There are two IRS whistleblower programs.
- The small awards program pays up to 15 percent on cases involving less than $2 million
- The large one will net the whistleblower 30 percent on more than $2 million
But there's no protection from retaliation, and the earnings are taxable.
