Quenneville was cited after being given a series of sobriety tests.

According to the Lone Tree Police Department, Quenneville was driving his car near Interstate 25 and County Line Road Friday at around 8:00 p.m. when officers noticed his headlights were not on. He was pulled over and after further investigation charged with failure to use headlights and operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, according to police.

Quenneville was hired to coach the Avalanche in June 2004. In his first year with the Avalanche, he led the team to the playoffs. In May, the Avalanche announced that Quenneville was leaving the organization.

Quenneville will appear in Douglas County court on October 3rd.
