KUSA - Rain will continue overnight into Tuesday morning across the Denver area after scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms were a part of the Memorial Day holiday for much of the metro area.
9NEWS Chief Meteorologist Kathy Sabine says in addition to the overnight rain, there will also be areas of patchy fog.
Earlier on Monday, heavy rain, dangerous lightning and small hail were reported across Denver and the Front Range. On Sunday, there was widespread hail and a small funnel cloud over Highlands Ranch.
Our weather picture will begin to change Tuesday. The cool front dropping southward along the Front Range Monday night will act as the focus mechanism for stronger storms and heavy rain will move south and east.
Showers are still a part of the forecast but Kathy says we will have more sunshine to start the week and that will allow temperatures to warm into the upper 60s Tuesday.
The pattern shifts midweek and as high pressure moves over the region we will see a return to warmer drier weather for the second half of the week and even the upcoming weekend with highs back in the mid 80s.
The Memorial Day weekend has been very wet. Since Friday morning, there has been a tremendous amount of moisture around the metro area.
