GREELEY - University of Northern Colorado theater professor Vance Fulkerson not only secretly videotaped guests who used his home bathroom but also kept child pornography locked in a safe in his bedroom, according to Greeley Police.

Police arrested Fulkerson, 63, Thursday and are recommending charges of sexually exploiting children and unlawful sexual contact.

The arrest affidavit in the case became available Monday.
According to the affidavit, Fulkerson hid a small video camera inside an alarm clock that sat on the toilet tank in one of his bathrooms at his Greeley home.

Police say last week, a young man who was staying with Fulkerson looked in Fulkerson's bedroom and found a TV with a live video feed of the bathroom.

The man is a UNC graduate and former student of Fulkerson's.

He told police Fulkerson gives voice lessons to some of his students, some of whom are minors. According to the affidavit, "...one of Fulkerson's teaching methods was to send his students into the bathroom to urinate and at the same time sing or work on voice exercises."

During their investigation, police say they found the hidden camera, along with a videotape showing an unidentified man urinating in the toilet and taking a shower.

The affidavit states investigators also found as many as 29 pornographic photographs of young boys ranging in age from 5 to 16 years old. The pictures were locked in a safe next to Fulkerson's bed, according to police.

According the arrest affidavit, Fulkerson told investigators he initially placed the hidden camera in his bathroom to "keep track of his aging parents."

Financial difficulties following his father's death, Fulkerson claims in the affidavit, made him decide to leave the camera in place and videotape paid models using his bathroom.

Fulkerson told investigators no video was taken of minors and that his accuser is the only person who did not know he was being videotaped.

Attempts to contact Fulkerson Monday were unsuccessful.
UNC announced Monday it is conducting its own internal investigation of the accusations. The University has refused to comment specifically about the details of the case of Fulkerson's status.
