A judge sentenced Melissa Snow Tuesday after she pleaded guilty to attempted sexual assault on a child, a class-5 felony. The 27-year-old was arrested on Nov. 5, 2008, after allegations she sexually assaulted one of her students at Sheridan High School.

Snow began working at Sheridan High in the fall of 2005 and taught all grades of students during her tenure. The terms of her sentence will keep her from continuing her career as a high school teacher.

Snow will spend the next 8 years of her life on sex offender intensive-supervision probation during which she will have to maintain constant contact with the probation department.

The sentence requires Snow to have no contact with anyone under the age of 18 without approval of the probation department. The sentence also requires Snow complete a victim empathy course, maintain full-time employment and register as a sex offender for the rest of her life.

Snow was accused of sexually assaulting a student more than once at a location in Denver.
