Freak accident kills Larkspur woman

LARKSPUR - A woman identified as Linda Flatland was killed last night in a freak accident at a home in the 1000 block of Yarnell Drive in Larkspur.

Cocha Heyden, spokeswoman for the Douglas County Sheriff's Department, said deputies were called to the home at about 8:37 p.m. Thursday.

The initial investigation indicates the 57-year-old Flatland's car was parked on the steep driveway and that the brake was not set properly, causing the car to roll down the driveway, said Heyden.

The woman, who had been standing next to the car, was snagged by the vehicle and dragged down the incline, said the spokesperson.

At the bottom of the driveway, the rolling vehicle smashed into two other vehicles, throwing Flatland free, said Heyden. The woman was killed.
