The Clear Creek County Sheriff's Office says the hikers flagged down a park ranger around 1:18 p.m., saying they had spent the night near Abyss Lake, near Colorado Highway 5.

Deputies were contacted and responded to the area on Mt. Evans, which is about 14 miles up Hwy. 5. They reached the hikers a short time later.

The hikers, a man and a woman, were dehydrated and hungry, but otherwise OK, according to authorities.

Deputies were in the process of bringing the hikers down from the mountain.
