CENTENNIAL - Lynette Thompson says one word came to her mind the moment she found out that her estranged husband had been convicted of child abuse resulting in the death of their daughter Aarone.

"Good. That was the first thing I thought," she told us on Tuesday by phone from her hometown of Detroit, Mich.

"What made (Aaron Thompson) think he was going to walk through those doors and get a not guilty verdict? That's what I want to know," she said.

On Monday, an Arapahoe County jury found Aaron Thompson guilty on 32 of 53 criminal counts, the most serious being child abuse resulting in death. Judge Valeria Spencer will sentence him in November. He faces a lengthy prison sentence, one that could very well send him to prison for the rest of his life.

"He should have protected (Aarone). He did not protect her as a father and a guardian," she said.

Aaron Thompson moved to Colorado in 2001 when the girl was 2. Here he broke off his relationship with Lynette who admits she went though drug addiction issues back then.

She insisted she has dramatically turned her life around since then. She said she plans on coming to Colorado to speak on Aarone's behalf during the sentencing hearing in November.

"I'm going to tell you right now the word angry doesn't even begin to describe how I feel right now, how I've been feeling since this all began," she said.

Investigators have been unable to locate the body of Aarone. The trial itself failed to come up with a definitive answer to the question of what happened to her. Investigators believe the girl likely died in 2003, 2 years before Aaron Thompson publically reported her missing.

She said she remains optimistic that one day she'll find out what happened to her daughter.

"Yes, I got faith. God will always reveal, just like He revealed this," she said referring to the conviction. "The truth is going to come out."
