DENVER - After the first freeze of the year Friday with a record-setting 26 degrees, temperatures dropped low enough Saturday morning to tie a 109-year record.

The official temperature for Denver as recorded at Denver International Airport dropped to 31 degrees around 7 a.m. on Saturday. This tied the record low for October 3rd last set in 1900.

In additional to the unseasonably cool air, this weekend will also bring the "Harvest Moon", the full moon closest to the Autumnal Equinox. Watch for the full moon's rise Sunday at 6:32 p.m.

On Friday, the temperature at DIA dipped to 26 degrees just before 5 a.m. This was low enough to set a new record low for October 2. The old record low had been 30 degrees last set in 1999.

High clouds over the state tonight will help keep temperatures above freezing Saturday night into Sunday morning.

Partly cloudy skies with temperatures in the 40s and low 50s will make for ideal conditions for Race for the Cure Sunday morning.
