A spokesperson for the airport says Pvt. Terrance Wayne Hilton, 19, was being escorted from Salt Lake City to Colorado Springs. They stopped at DIA for a connecting flight.

While at DIA, Hilton ran from his escort on Concourse B between 3 and 3:30 p.m.

He got on one of the DIA trains and has not been spotted since.

Hilton is described as white, 5 feet 10 inches tall and about 145 pounds. He has short, light brown hair and hazel eyes. He was wearing a dark green hoodie, a white T-shirt, black shorts and white tennis shoes.

Authorities say he was wearing handcuffs when he escaped.

Denver Police are still searching for the man and are asking people to keep an eye out for him. A bulletin has been sent out in Adams County.

Authorities don't believe Hilton is still at DIA and called off the search there after about an hour.

Fort Carson says he was part of the 1st Special Troops Battalion, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division. He turns 20 on Thursday.

Police spokeswoman Loretta Beauvais says the man is believed to be from the Grand Junction area.
