The Clear Creek County Sheriff's Office says the man, who was in his late 20s, was separated from his friends Saturday during a hike near Guanella Pass. His friends reported him missing to the Park County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies say a medical helicopter spotted him in the early morning on Sunday, landed and then transported him to Summit County Medical Center.

According to deputies, the man was dressed appropriately for the frigid weather, but was nonetheless very cold and happy to see rescuers. They say he appeared to have some kind of shoulder injury, but was expected to be OK.

The man's name was not released.
