1 killed in accident involving charter bus

JEFFERSON COUNTY - The Colorado State Patrol confirms one person was killed in an accident involving a BMW sedan and a charter bus overnight Thursday.

It happened around 1:30 a.m. at West 6th Avenue and Indiana Street.

A spokesperson for the state patrol says the driver of the BMW was going west on 6th Avenue at a high rate of speed when he collided with a casino transport bus.

The driver of the BMW was killed. His name has has not been released. The bus driver was the only person on the bus and he was not hurt.

The westbound lanes of 6th Avenue at Indiana Street were closed for about three-and-a-half hours because of the accident. The lanes reopened at 5 a.m.
