MORRISON - Halloween can't come soon enough for 8-year-old Peyton McCubbin. That's the day she gets to be just like everyone else.

Peyton uses a wheelchair. Every year since preschool, her family incorporates that wheelchair into her Halloween costume, with amazing results.

One year, she had her wheelchair transformed into a magic carpet. She's also been a little mermaid and a princess in a carriage. Last year, her wheelchair became a Flintstones car.

This year, Peyton's costume is a little more flashy. It's a souped up motorcycle, with a lot of pink and a lot of chrome. Her dad built an original Harley-Davidson-like ride, just for her.

Peyton's dad, Ryan, says going to school in her costume is a huge confidence boost for Peyton.

"The first year we just kind of did it for fun and everyone made such a big deal of her and it made her so happy at school," Ryan McCubbin said. "She was the most popular kid in school that day. So after that, it was pretty easy to put that time into it and it makes her feel great."

Ryan McCubbin encourages other parents of children with challenges or disabilities to get creative and find ways to get them involved in special events like Halloween. He says he never imagined how significant it would be for Peyton.
Peyton plans to unveil her newest costume at her school's parade on Friday.
