Police: 3-month-old dead, father arrested for child abuse

LAKEWOOD - Detectives arrested a Lakewood man Thursday night for the death of his 3-month-old child.

Police were called to the 100 block of South Quay Street just after 10 p.m. Thursday night to investigate the death of the infant.

Police arrested the father of the child, 24-year-old Marcus Leyba, on a charge of child abuse resulting in death.

Leyba is currently being held at the Jefferson County Jail.

Detectives are continuing their investigation in an attempt to determine the exact cause of death and what circumstances lead up to the child's death.

Leyba will appear in a Jefferson County Court early next week.
