Every good story is worth repeating and preserving.

written by: Kim Christiansen     4 years ago

Every family has stories they treasure. Stories within a family offer lessons for future generations.  For families struggling with Alzheimer’s, memories take on new value.

A woman in the Denver area makes it her job to document the past and preserve memories. Phyllis Coffman uses old photographs and newspaper articles to trigger memories in a person with Alzheimer's.

She conducts several on-camera interviews with the person and then turns it into a dvd version of their story.

Phyllis believes her efforts serve many purposes. They provide families with a life story, meant to be passed on to future generations.

Phyllis also says the stories put a person, and a face to Alzheimer's. If someone with the disease goes on to live in a long term facility, it gives caregivers critical information about their past and who they are inside.

Phyllis believes every story is worth telling, and no story should be forgotten. To learn more about "Memories for the Telling" call 720-989-5038.
