Fort Collins Police say the accident occurred at the intersection of Carpenter Road and South Lemay Avenue.

A 24-year-old was driving a white semi-truck westbound on Carpenter Road when the semi broadsided a 2001 maroon Nissan, police say. The Nissan was traveling southbound on Lemay Avenue at the time.

Authorities say the intersection is controlled by a four-way stop sign.

The 72-year-old woman who was driving the Nissan was transported to the Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland where she was pronounced dead, police say.

The driver of the semi was not injured, authorities say.

Neither driver's identity was immediately released.

Investigators closed the roads in the immediate area to investigate the crash.
