CHEYENNE - The Wyoming Highway Patrol says it seized about $3.25 million during a traffic stop early Saturday morning.

It happened on westbound I-80 just east of Cheyenne.

At around 5 a.m., a trooper stopped a pickup for speeding and for having an obscured license plate.

The trooper had a sheriff's department K-9 brought to the scene where the dog found eight suitcases filled with money in the truck's bed.

The money is believed to be involved in drug trafficking, but troopers say neither the driver nor the passenger claimed they knew anything about the money.

The highway patrol took the money, but they let the two men go.
