DOUGLAS COUNTY – County commissioners have several hundred pages of recommendations to go through on how to fix the problems that marked last November's election.

A 13-member fact finding committee came up with three scenarios that were presented to the Douglas County Commissioners on Tuesday night.

It is the result of a four-month investigation into an Election Day debacle that left some voters waiting up to six hours to vote.

The panel looked at several factors, including the new electronic voting equipment, the effectiveness of the voting centers and election judge training procedures.

The three recommended options are to go back to a paper system, use electronic voting only, or use "super precincts" which would give the individual voter a choice between voting on paper or voting electronically.

The county commissioners will meet with the county clerk and recorder to narrow down the options, and hope to have a solution by Memorial Day.
