They cite threats against specific students as the reason behind the decision saying a note was found at the school which threatened several students listed. Those students have been taken out of school and the investigation continues.

Wheat Ridge Police spokesperson Lisa Stigall says it is unknown yet if the threat is credible.

The district says they became aware of the threat just before 10 a.m. and both Wheat Ridge Police and school district security responded.

The lockdown is expected to last for a period of time but not for the entire day.

Parents are allowed to pick up their students at the school with proper identification. Any parents without proper identification will not be allowed on campus.
