Personal papers left in parking lot

GREENWOOD VILLAGE – The Arapahoe County Sheriff says piles of personal information left in a parking lot are now secure.

However, that was after it was left out in the open for much of Monday, free for anyone to pick through.

A mortgage company that was inside an office building near Orchard and Quebec was evicted Monday morning.

As a result, countless documents, containing information like Social Security numbers, were moved outside.

However, there is no way to identify which business left out the documents, because they were abandoned and the business' name does not appear on any of the papers.

"It's disturbing to me that someone that was in business, and probably conducted business with a lot of people, wasn't responsible enough to close their business out," said Arapahoe County Sheriff Grayson Robinson.

Robinson believes the evicted business, and the owner of the office building, share responsibility for securing all the documents.

Since they did not, Robinson had an inmate crew pack up all of the documents.

It is not clear what will happen to them next.
