Driver didn't think anyone was hurt after go-cart accident
|
WESTMINSTER - The man accused of killing a boy and injuring another after hitting their go-cart with his car told police he left the scene because it was a "no harm, no foul" situation, according to his arrest affidavit. ![]() Sean Christopher Daniels appeared in court via video monitor on Monday. At the hearing, Daniels' bond was set at $50,000. Formal charges will be filed on Friday. On Saturday, June 23, two brothers riding a go-cart were struck by a car around 96th Avenue just west of Pierce Street. Eight-year-old Quinton Von Duyke was killed in the accident, and his 10-year-old brother Kaeden Von Duyke was injured. Westminster Police officers and detectives have conducted an ongoing investigation since the hit-and-run crash. According to the arrest affidavit, "Daniels stated that he didn't think that anyone was hurt so he left the area and he felt that "no harm, no foul." Daniels was tracked down after they found a 1995 Chevrolet truck in the 9500 Block of Otis Street that matched the description of earlier evidence. In the affidavit, the officer said a corner missing from the driver's side of the truck was "an exact match to the piece that he observed at the accident scene." An acquaintance of Daniels told police that he had "been very distraught since the accident, and has been crying himself to sleep every night," according to the affidavit.
