The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office says William Samuel Paxton is a former music department instructor and/or color guard coach at Arvada, Alameda, D'Evelyn, Jefferson and Lakewood High Schools.

Investigators say they recently became aware of allegations of sexual assault between Paxton and female students from those high schools.

He is being held at the Jefferson County Detention Facility for charges of sexual assault and sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust.

Paxton has served intermittently as both a volunteer and contract employee for R-1 Schools for several years.

Investigators believe that additional victims may exist and are urging anyone with additional information to contact the tip line at 303-271-5612.
