Complaint e-mails net fans Series tickets
|
DENVER - 9Wants to Know has learned that at least eight fans who were shut out of the ticket sales on Monday and Tuesday now have World Series tickets, thanks to complaint e-mails sent to the Colorado Rockies. ![]() Heather Bays of Denver was one of the many people who e-mailed 9Wants to Know on Tuesday upset they had been online for hours with no tickets to show for it. Bays told 9NEWS she was actually able to pick out seats and had clicked the check-out button when her time on the Web site expired. She could not get back on the Rockies site before the team had announced all of the tickets had sold out. Bays' was so disappointed she e-mailed the Rockies to complain Tuesday at 'rockiestix@coloradorockies.com'. Bay's e-mail said in part: "I can't believe that you call your system fair… when I couldn't even purchase the tickets that your program assigned to me. I am very sad…. And my 7-year-old Rockies' fan will be even more disillusioned." On Friday, a representative from the Rockies called Bays' directly and offered to sell her tickets over the phone. "I was absolutely overwhelmingly excited," said Bays in an interview with 9NEWS. Bays had never been to a World Series game before and neither had her 7-year-old son. "This will make my little boy's dreams come true," said Bays. "He's a total Rockies fan." The Rockies representative who sold Bays two tickets for Game 4 and four tickets for Game 5 didn't say if he was calling other upset fans. "He apologized at first and said that even though she had problems buying tickets there were other people who were able to get through," Bays continued. Bays was skeptical so she called her credit card company and made sure the charges were to the Colorado Rockies. Bays said she was given several different ticketing options on Friday and made the best choice she could. Bays says her son can't go to a game until Monday so she's hoping for at least one Rockies win before then. Another fan, Paul Romero, e-mailed 9NEWS saying the Rockies called him and sold him three tickets for Game 3 and three tickets for Game 4 after he e-mailed them about his experience of trying to buy tickets unsuccessfully. 9NEWS has contacted Rockies management to ask about these calls. We will update this story as soon as we hear back. (Copyright KUSA*TV. All rights reserved.)
