Police say Patrick Moore, 46, was driving a pickup truck when he hit 21-year-old Mario Draves Santiago-Bumbico of California.

According to police, Santiago-Bumbico, who was riding on a scooter, was attempting to make a left-hand turn from northbound Sheridan Boulevard onto westbound 64th Avenue when he was clipped by a truck.

Police say immediately after that Moore's truck hit him and Moore then fled the scene.

Police were able to make contact with Moore soon after and placed him under arrest on suspicion of vehicular homicide, failure to notify police and DUI.

During an October trial Moore was found guilty of vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of an accident involving death. He also pleaded guilty to two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol.

Moore was sentenced to the five year term for the vehicular homicide-dui charge, two years for hit-and-run resulting in death and one year for DUI. He will serve his sentences concurrently followed by a five year parole period.
