written by Colleen Locke     3 years ago

DENVER – Three months ago, Romeo was almost run over twice because he refused to leave the side of a companion dog that had been hit and killed by a car.

Police found the Chow-Shepherd mix near 52nd and Chambers on September 11 and took him to the Denver Municipal Animal Shelter. After he was deemed adoptable, he was taken to Maxfund.

"Once he loves you, he will stay by your side forever," said Lori Moss, director of Maxfund.

Moss says Romeo has shown that he's loyal. She says he's also even-keeled. Moss says Romeo would do well in a home with children over 12 but he does not get along with cats.

To contact Maxfund, click here, call 303-595-4917 or e-mail mail@maxfund.org.

Maxfund is also hoping to get a million-dollar makeover from zootoo.com. In order to become one of the 20 selected, the shelter has to get people to sign up online. It's free to register.
