|
WELD COUNTY – The driver of a pickup was killed late Monday night after a crash that caused the pickup to catch on fire. ![]() The pickup started to burn after it hit a cement truck at the intersection of Weld County Road 49 and Weld County Road 44, about nine miles southeast of Greeley. The accident happened around 10 p.m. According to the Colorado State Patrol, a police officer from Lochbuie was in the area when the accident happened and tried to help. "He attempted to put out the flames with a one pound fire extinguisher. Within seconds the car was engulfed in flames. He tried, but couldn't get the party out of the vehicle," said C.S.P Sgt. Dennis Schenkenberger. The driver of the pickup died at the scene of the accident. The person who was driving the concrete truck was taken to the hospital after complaining of chest pains.
