Sixteen-year-old Cody Morris' donkey Shadow was one of ten donkeys competing for the honor of representing the party.

"I believe Shadow is a democrat," Cody said.

Ten-year-old Sophie Herzog's donkey Massai weighs 12 hundred pounds.

"She kinda beats me 100 to 1, so I just know I got to strut my stuff," Sophie said.

Before all was said and done, Shadow was disqualified for "unruly conduct."

"It was harsh," Cody said.

In the end, a donkey named Mordecai was named the winner. Mordecai is from a farm in Fairplay.

He will likely make a few appearances at the Democratic National Convention, which starts August 25 at the Pepsi Center.

The National Western Stock Show wraps up on Sunday.
