New take on global warming: "Earth: The Sequel"
|
DENVER – Fred Krupp has spent most of his life fighting for the planet and now the President of the Environmental Defense fund is out with a new book about the race to reinvent energy and stop global warming. We talked to him about Earth:The Sequel. ![]() New take on global warming: "Earth: The Sequel" As seen on 9NEWS at 5 a.m., Krupp highlighted some of the points in his new book which looks at some of the emerging technologies that Krupp believes may make the whole idea of pollutants an outdated concept. Krupp says his research actually left him feeling despair at one point, optimism at another. "The reason that the despair to date has been warranted is that the economics are all wrong. The conventional market system has a big flaw in that no one is forced to pay the cost of polluting the atmosphere," Krupp says. "And the reason hopefulness is warranted now is that all three presidential candidates have come out in favor of a cap on global warming pollution." "I predict, eventually, we will have a "hard cap" on global warming, which will create a cascade of private investment into these new technologies, will create a government requirement that we take this pollution out of the air. And we will see the entrepreneurial energy that America's always been famous for finally put to use to tackle global warming." Krupp will be doing a booksigning at the Tattered Cover in LoDo at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, March 31st.
